It's been a LONG time since I've posted here. Been using another platform, but I see my blog over there has gone down, at least temporarily. So, let's resurrect this old thing.
This will be long. Very annoyed with what a few people have put a friend of mine, known as LyricalSunset, on Twitter through. Mostly because many who've done it are complete and total hypocrites, no two ways about it. They go after her and unfollow her, block her, call her all kinds of vile names...One person has gone so far as to suggest her death or assault would be good for all...All because she retweets some things from TheFunnyRacist who is, in fact, sometimes funny...Sometimes not.
Yet many of these same people, who ridicule her for what SHE finds funny are the first to retweet the most sexually deviant things they find, or come up with some of it themselves. Many of them, though racial jokes are so abhorrent in their minds, will tweet the most sexist jokes, or jokes so degrading to women that you're surprised their girlfriends or female friends don't slap the crap out of them.
I'm not condoning racism; but frankly, just as many of you expect the rest of the world to know that your sexual jokes are just jokes, and that's not how you really feel about women, she deserves the same courtesy. I'll bet most of you who are jumping down her throat don't know she's part Asian (Korean, I believe), and is dating a black guy. If he, as a black person, found these jokes offensive, do you think he'd stay with her? I doubt it.
And no, I don't know WHO all has unfollowed or blocked her over this...But of the ones I DO know, most are white. This tells me you're the typical self-hating liberals. You assume she's a white person, and that she's trying to keep other races down. No, just like many of you with your Conservative-bashing, your sexist humor, serial killer fetishes, or whatever your brand of off-color humor may be, she happens to find some racial humor funny. Does that make her a racist? No. Does that make those of us who are fascinated by and like to read about serial characters, both fictional and real, serial killers or criminals ourselves? Nope. Does that make the guy who drops the odd C-bomb, or tweets a sexist joke now and then, a sexist? Again, nope. It's all about humor.
Now, if you're perfect, never put out anything offensive, and are somehow holier than the rest of us, then by all means, bash away. But for the rest of you, who are just as human as she or I are, you have NO right to criticize her for what she finds funny, especially if she's not done so to you.
In short, grow up, people. Some of you listen to Howard Stern, Opie & Anthony, comics like Jim Norton, Andrew Dice Clay, Rodney Carrington, Chris Rock, Richard Pryor, and the list goes on and on. All of them use sexual connotations in their humor...and yes, *gasp*, many of them use race as well.
So, unless you're a completely non-offensive person yourself, you have no right to be offended by what Jess aka @LyricalSunset tweets out there. Otherwise, you're just as guilty of hypocrisy as the religious fanatic who tells you "Jesus wouldn't like what you're doing", and then goes and does it himself. Before you judge her, or anyone else, think about your own actions, your own life.
Perhaps it's not her you're mad at. Perhaps it's self-hatred, or lack of acceptance, of who you are.
